GENERAL SUMMARY
The Planner II is responsible for the management and scheduling of customer orders for various valve product lines including monitoring/advancing the manufacturing process to meet customers’ scheduled requirement date. Responsibility includes analysis and maintain of proper inventory levels to support current and future demand. This position is responsible for their individual planning duties and as necessary provides backup support for other planning positions.
This position is currently eligible for DeZURIK’s hybrid work schedule.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
After analysis of Production/Purchasing BOM capabilities – Schedule an “Acknowledged” date for customer order line – placing the product into the Production Backlog – this is done with careful analysis and consideration of the following factors, but not limited to:
Customer Requested Date
Availability of components manufactured and purchased using analysis of the BOM and routing
Perceived Capacity
Required to ship entire order complete
Do not ship before dates
Additional information from Customer Service or Projects Managers
Export order requirements
Customer Inspections
Sales change orders
Other Customer/Company special requirements/considerations (6 digits)
Manage and adjust as you determine, develop and maintain inventory levels via assembly or component and/or end item forecasts which complement and support production and sales – based on item history and any other product knowledge available.
Manage the execution of production activities that enable meeting commitments made to our customers and assist meeting on time delivery performance. This includes
Serve as the focal point for the resolution of shortages or scrap, working with shop floor and procurement personnel
Gather information and assure proper reconciliation on production/inventory discrepancies
Examination and making decisions on all purchase requisitions
Work with purchasing personnel to achieve optimal effects to cost, lot size and delivery date
After evaluation – release (print and process) forward of production orders to the shop floor
Expediting and follow up of production orders and purchased parts as required
Re-Acknowledge Sales Orders appropriately as required working closely with Customer Service
Work and reconcile NCR’s (Non-Conformance) purchase and manufactured components
Continually monitor and maintain MRP integrity of item data, using self-determination forecasts/safety stocks for the accomplishment of on time delivery of the components/valves which you have scheduled. Continual periodic analysis of the following factors:

EOQ/Lot size/Minimums
Lead Times – internal (manufactured) and external (purchased)
Work with “costing” personnel
Proper processing of production orders on the floor
Usage trends
BOM Structure
Perform additional activities as requested or required, including but not limited to:
Analysis and processing of Excess and inactive components
Inventory reduction initiatives
Cost saving initiatives
System improvement
Training of employees
Procedure writing
Consulting and involvement in new/lean programs or events
Participate in and lead meetings
Manage new product design effectively or production phase in/out of different revisions
Incorporate spare and replacement strategies when applicable
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in business/materials emphasis or equivalent experience.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required.
3 years of experience planning/scheduling with MRP system along with working knowledge of a job shop environment.
APICS Certified or equivalent experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Attention to detail, with high degree of accuracy.
General Microsoft Office computer skills a plus and ability to understand and navigate in Excel.
Ability to understand Bills of Material, prints and manufacturing processes.
Valve product knowledge an asset, but needs to excel at problem solving and having the ability to constantly re-establish priorities.
Requires effective communication skills in working with all departments.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands are typical of an office position including extended periods of sitting, extensive use of a personal computer and telephone.
Position requires movement around the facilities.
Occasional handling of material and components
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal manufacturing and office environment. When working occasionally in some shop areas, personal protection equipment (PPE) will be recommended and/or required (safety shoes, safety glasses w/side shields, hearing protection, face shield, gloves, apron and boots). Must have the ability to support extended business hours to meet customer business needs.
