POSITION:
Triage Mental Health Specialist

TYPE OF POSITION:
1.0 FTE Teacher Contract

REPORT TO:
Immediate Supervisor-Director of Student Services

SUPERVISION:
None

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:
BA in Child Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Mental Health, Nursing or related field

Preferred:
LMFT- Licensed Marriage Family Therapist, or
LPCC- Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, or
LICSW - Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or
MA in Mental Health Related Field (School Counseling, Behavioral Health)
Minimally 5+ years of experience in clinical or school setting
Experience with early learners (PK-5) and early child development
Knowledge of mental health crisis prevention, response and intervention

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Triage Specialist will support coordinating the mental health needs of District #742 students who are in urgent need of mental health care. Triage specialists serve as a liaison between schools, families and community partners/resources. Triage specialists also support district-wide crisis response, mental health professional development, and suicide prevention.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Support students by providing:

* Timely access to psychiatric evaluations at the CentraCare Child and Adolescent Specialty Center

* Timely access to diagnostic assessments at area community agencies that are partnering with the MHTAS

* Liaison between community agencies currently utilized by referred students

* Liaison between school staff and mental health services within the community

* Assistance in setting up appropriate mental health services for students and families

* Assistance with transportation to mental health appointments as need is determined

* Guidance with application for further insurance coverage as need is determined

* Coordination of suicide prevention and awareness

Support schools by providing:

* Crisis response as needed

* Mental Health Professional Development

PHYSICAL FACTORS:

* Frequent: walking, standing, sitting, hearing, talking, and seeing

* Light Work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
