Job Description:

Veit is seeking a Logistics Coordinator to join our award-winning Demolition team. This newly created role will be responsible for coordinating remote jobsite setup for Demolition projects located outside of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area.

A Day in the Life at Veit

  • Sources and develops relationships with trucking brokers across the United States. Works proactively with the Director of Demolition to mitigate potential issues before problems arise.

  • Coordinates, schedules, and conducts jobsite orientation for subcontractors.

  • Schedules and monitors onsite subcontractors to ensure work is complete per subcontractor agreement.

  • Assists Project Superintendent by overseeing jobsite as needed.

  • Procures and coordinates jobsite material deliveries from various vendors including disposal, restrooms, steel, etc.

  • Procures hotel rooms and coordinates direct billing for demolition crew members.

  • Tracks and maintains inventory of small tools. Makes recommendations on tool repair and replacement.

  • Assists the Warehouse by gathering and preparing materials and equipment for trucking/transit.

  • Assists Demolition team by responding to after-hours emergency situations as needed. May be asked to assess situation and provide findings to Director of Demolition. Works with Demolition Director to procure equipment and materials for emergency response. Emergency situations may include but are not limited to fires, floods, railroad derailments, etc.

  • Proficiently uses Heavy Job, PlanGrid, SharePoint, Viewpoint to improve project success.

  • Conducts orientation for new employees in remote jobsite locations.

  • Keeps supervisor informed of known actions, written or verbal, which may affect the ability to successfully perform assignments or adversely affect company operations.

  • Other projects or duties as assigned by management.

What You'll Need

  • Minimum of two years of demolition or logistics experience; or equivalent combination ofeducation and experience.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience using Microsoft Teams is desirable.

  • Ability to approach opportunities and challenges with an energetic, motivational, action-oriented, and solution-based approach.

  • Ability to respond to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment with a can-do attitude.

  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to clearly articulate information to all levels of management, employees, external vendors, and other business associates.

  • Ability to define problems, collect and document data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of situations and events and respond accordingly. Ability to seek counsel, when needed and use a variety of resources.

  • Ability to maintain compliance with all Veit policies and procedures.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction or Engineering related discipline is preferred but not required.

  • OSHA30 Certification is preferred.

  • Valid Driver's License and ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen

  • Frequent travel and overnight stays to jobsites outside of office location area (25-50%)

  • Ability to pull a trailer which requires a health card

  • Union affiliation or willingness to join the union is required

Physical Demands

Ability to perform manual work requiring frequent periods of extensive physical exertion and potential exposure to adverse weather conditions. Required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Often required to sit, stand, walk, bend knees, stretch arms, stoop, kneel, talk and hear. The employee occasionally may encounter high noise levels, but hearing protection is provided/required.

Employee frequently works alone and with others. Frequently exposed to variable work environments, including unique conditions outside a typical office environment. May occasionally work in an office environment. Occasionally exposed to moving machinery, odors, dust, pressurized equipment. Occasionally exposed to electrical hazards. May be exposed to environmental conditions, loud noises variable terrain, and variable weather including rain, snow, wind, cold, and heat.
