Wisconsin-based, global manufacturing company is expanding and looking to hire a Vice President of Engineering
 
 
Responsibilities:                                                                                                           
 
Job Summary:
Responsible for industrial and product engineering teams at all company facilities; responsible for functions pertaining to routings, incentive rates, bills of materials, product drawings, patterns, cut and sew drawings, material specifications, engineering change orders, product drawings, replacement parts, adherence to specified standards, development of best practices, and personnel management; in addition to managing these activities, time will be required to evaluate competitive products, proposed products, and improvement suggestions
 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical information or drawings to customer service representatives
  • Manage the development and maintenance of bills of materials and routings, incentive rates, material specifications, product design, and best practices
  • Supervise personnel within the engineering, R&D, and pattern departments across the company
  • Conduct weekly product review meetings with key personnel to discuss best practices, product development, and profit enhancement opportunities
  • Evaluate new materials, methods, and processes to incorporate enhance quality, reduce costs, and increase through-put
  • Maintain corporate disciplines, company policies, and procedures to create a productive, organized, clean, and safe environment
  • Serve as a mentor to subordinates by creating an environment characterized by a free exchange of ideas, teaching, and learning together
  • Conduct audits within each facility to ensure that only approved materials are being utilized at all times
  • Participate or lead process improvement initiatives to ensure company’s continued growth
  • Present opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions to the Executive team
  • Manage the various departments and facilitate compliance within the parameters of approved budgeted resources while attaining prescribed objectives
  • Ensure all facilities implement engineering change orders within a timely manner and utilize only approved materials
  • Participate in the determination, endorsement, and teaching of company goals and objectives as a key member of the Executive team
  • Train, plan, organize, develop departmental personnel, and direct the administration of his/her department
  • Participate in the design of new products while working to continually refine existing designs
  • Completes other assignments and special projects as requested by the VP of Operations
 
                                               

 
 
Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Required Education: Bachelors Degree in Engineering
  • Desired Education: Masters in Engineering or an MBA
  • Professional Experience: 5-10 years in managing an engineering department, supporting a large-scale manufacturing operation, encompassing a diverse product line and multiple facilities, preferably with international scope
  • Knowledge of: Bills of Materials, Routings, Incentive Rates, Pattern and Sew Drawing Development, Manufacturing, Theory of Constraints, Lean Manufacturing, Statistical Process Control
  • Skills and Abilities: excellent organizational skills, excellent decision-making and follow-through skills, ability to communicate with all organizational levels, skilled in conflict management and resolution, skilled in prioritizing multiple directives with changing work demands, skilled in problem solving
